GPDA meets the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at New Hope Christian Church in Wichita, KS. These general meetings include social time with coffee, a 30-minute business meeting, jams, and workshops. Time is also allotted for anyone who would like to perform before we end at noon.
The annual GPDA Warm-Up Picnic (WUP) is held on the weekend before the Walnut Valley Festival. The WUP is comprised of a variety of instrument workshops, workshop leader concert, open mic, and potluck supper. Attendance to the WUP is free and open to the public.
GPDA has performance groups that offer free concerts as community service. They usually play several times per month at nursing homes, churches, etc. In December, GPDA plays Christmas music at Cowtown in Wichita. Please contact info@gpdaks.org if you are interested in scheduling a performance.
As stated in Article II of our constitution, a primary purpose of the GPDA is to “conduct educational programs and services related to Hammered and Mountain Dulcimers and other acoustic instruments.” GPDA volunteers provide educational programs for various local institutions, host workshops, and take part in our Instrument Petting Zoo.
