Dashing through the snow....

Jingle Bells is one of those songs we always play at playdates this time of year.

Okay, maybe not this year. But it is one of those songs that easily becomes an

earworm. You will no doubt have that tune floating through your head now.

You’re welcome.

That is not such bad thing. It is a good tune. It is a happy tune. Personally, it puts a smile on my face!

I like all of the verses. I was surprised to discover that there is some disagreement

in regard to the verses. Google the lyrics and you will see what I mean. The one I

like the best is the one that mentions taking one's girl for a sleigh ride.

Admittedly, it all sounds good until that “upsot" part but life is like that. Oh well.

The closest thing that Denny and I have ever come to a sleigh ride was a horse

drawn carriage ride in Bardstown, Kentucky at Kentucky Music Week in the

middle of the summer. And there was no way we would ever get “upsot"

trundling along at a blazing 2 miles an hour, threading our way through traffic. It

was hot and sticky. There was no “drifted bank of snow" anywhere to be seen.

But I did hear wafting through my brain as I wiped the perspiration from my brow the sweet soft strains of, “Dashing through the snow…”

I whispered a few bars in Denny's ear. She punched me. Merry Christmas to all and to all a “good night!”
